Link Buying is the New Strategy for Internet Marketing

Update: October 28th, 2009

Sometimes if a person waits long enough the strategies that once were thought to be the cutting edge of Internet marketing will change and a whole new system of approaches will come on the scene.  Such is the case with link buying.  The search engine algorithms that result in page ranking operate in such a way that the number of links leading back to a certain website contribute to the rank that page receives.  So, obviously, the greater volume of links there are, the greater page rank that site will receive.  However, the search engines like Google also frown on manipulating page rank by simply increasing backlinks.  Face it, all efforts at placing backlinks on the Internet are an attempt to manipulate the search engines.  It is creating importance, whether it is accurate or not, so that more traffic streams to the site.

The greatest strategy is to be smart about how link buying takes place.  If you are going to advertise on the Internet, you are placing your text in a certain spot by paying for that placement with the hope that people will find that ad and click on it resulting in a visit to your site.  Link buying is advertising.  The exception is that rather than you searching out the spot and the websites where you want your text to appear, you are allowing another business to do that for you.  The amount of money you are will to spend will determine the amount of effect the links will have on the search engine.  The higher the volume, the higher the effect.  Obviously, for more traffic and more sales, the highest volume possible is most effective.

With link buying it is still necessary to be strategic so that the search engines do not determine that your efforts should be made less effective.  The quality of the links and the relevence of your website will help balance the process.  Of course it is still possible to go through the whole process of writing hundreds of articles which is a commendable effort.  The more traditional approach of using blog sites and contributing to forums is a worthy cause but it will take much longer.  Building quickly and strategically will gain results more readily.
